Kia ora, nga mihi mahana ki a koe
Hello, and warm greetings to you
Since the parish was established in 1886, Holy Trinity has been an active part of the town of Woodville – a small town at the intersection of two national highways in the beautiful Tararua district. Whether happy celebrations or sombre commemorations, the Anglican Church has been near the centre of community life for 138 years.
Today we’re a smaller but still very welcoming church family that continues to serve God through service to the community and all creation. Holy Trinity is an inclusive parish with a strong commitment to social and environmental justice. We’re a “total ministry parish”, which means we have a ministry team that includes a community (unpaid) priest rather than a paid, full-time priest.
We gather for worship Sunday mornings, typically for a traditional service from A New Zealand Prayer Book/He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa. One Sunday a month we have a more contemporary-style family service. We also take part in shared community services with the other Woodville churches. The parish also supports the community church of St Andrew’s out in the rural community of Kumeroa where services are held 2–3 times a year.
There’s an Anglican Women’s Group that gets together monthly, a monthly senior citizens’ social afternoon, and other seasonal social, community and worship events. We're a key partner in the Woodville Combined Churches' Foodbank (please see the Contacts page for the Foodbank coordinator). Details on the different events can be found in the parish magazine Little Acorns.
